OK, now it’s time to arrange the participants in the MOMA’s “Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present” Flickr set by number of minutes each person stared at Abramovic. The Paco dude who went about a dozen times is the only person, apparently, to have stayed the whole day. It’s interesting to read the comments on the portraits of the long-suffering sitters; some people are understandably pissed to have been behind them.
Surprisingly, women made up the vast majority of the top 50 sitters; 37 by my quick visual count. Just a statistical fluke? Does the MOMA have a higher base of female visitors? Did females identify more with the female artist?
(One of Marina’s photos is mistakenly labeled, which is why my script placed her in this list…too lazy to fix right now)

Are you sure there is not a bug in your script? Paco (longest sitter) appears twice in the list
Great job, interesting to see these. Thanks ! Can you modify your script to find out the actual percentage of women sitters ? From a cursory view they seem like 85% of the sitters. Note, not all the sitters have their photos in the stream. Only those who agreed to sign the necessary release did.
Since you already have the script in place, maybe cranking some other statistics might be fun .. number of visits per sitter and minutes per sitting – I would exclude the last two days where there was a 15 min max limit in effect tho.

Thanks for the comment and info…unfortunately, the only info in the caption is sequence of portrait and minutes sat…so Paco shows twice because his sittings were among the longest. There’s no way to tell, programatically, who is male/female.
As for average minutes…I can do a quick calc now…looking through my file, I see that there are about 20 entries that didn’t have minutes listed, apparently because it was mistyped into the caption (I’ll have to re-run my script)
But what I have is 31,674 minutes sat by 1,473 people…so 21.5 min. I’ll post the entire list and some other visualizations later…just swamped with work now, thanks for the comment!

Interesting script. There is some scholarly research and possible collaboration that relates to your methods. One thing to note is that your script cannot identify multiple sittings, therefore your results are skewed in favor of people who got in the seat and didn’t move, not the people who came for shorter sittings over days. Unlike Andre, I would keep the last days, as there were a number of repeat sitters who came back for a final sitting.
On your top 200, I’m fairly certain there was a big spike in views in late April due to the post on AFC. Lotsa variables…
