Affiliate Link Policy

In lieu of using traditional online ad systems, I’ve opted for handcrafting a few Amazon affiliate links in the sidebar of the website. I’ve also used Amazon affiliate links when referring to books that I’ve excerpted in posts.

What are affiliate links? If you click-through a link, say, for a book that I’ve recommended, and you end up buying it, I get a small percentage of the sale from Amazon. You, however, pay nothing extra.

However, there is the very legitimate concern that, in my blogging, I may prefer to praise books or items that will net me revenue from click-through purchases. I can only give you my word that I will only write about books and other items if they deserve a mention. The books listed in the sidebar are books that I genuinely love.

Other sites have found this practice tantamount to advertising. So I feel it necessary to give you a full disclosure.

I can’t claim to need the revenue. The costs of maintaining this site run about $15 a month at most, not counting the time that I put in writing the posts…but that is a labor of love. So do not feel compelled in anyway to participate in the affiliate program. If you click on an Amazon link on my site, and it appears to be part of the Amazon affiliate program, you can cut me out of the picture by deleting the “tag” parameter:

For example, in this link:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1449316956/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1449316956&linkCode=as2&tag=danwincom-20

Remove the “tag=danwincom-20″ part.

If you don’t cut me out, thanks for your trust and for the approximately 10 to 30 cents you’ve generated for me :)
