Totally agree with you that “PHOTOS ARE AS FREE AS THE PHOTOGRAPHER WANTS THEM TO BE”. This is also true for many other forms of intellectual property such as software, books, videos, music etc.

People would pay if such media were easily available and set at a fair price.
